Venturing off to the desert with singer songwriter Jenn Grauer for 11 days. New Mexico is the Land of Enchantment, Arizona is the Grand Canyon state. We're starting in Santa Fe, up to Taos, down to white sands, over to silver city, ending in Tucson with the Southwest premiere of "Chicken" in LOVE SHORTS on Friday April 26th at the Arizona International Film Festival. Jenn wrote the beautiful song "Do You Call This Love" which is featured in the film. We hope to ride horses, soak up some hot springs and get expansive. Making a playlist now.
In college I used to say maybe we should all just pick up and move to Santa Fe. I've never been there. It was just a feeling. New Mexico calling me somewhere within. Maybe the artist. D.H. Lawrence and Georgia O'Keefe spent time there creating what they wanted to create. "Curious as it may sound it was New Mexico that liberated me from the present era of civilization."— D.H. Lawrence.
In Tucson we will be staying at the famous historic Hotel Congress. Bhagavan Das will be performing in town who i've been trying to see for a couple of years now. Last time I was here was for my first film "Veronika's Birthday." It won Special Recognition for Direction and Performance. Arizona International Film Festival has been very supportive of my filmmaking of which I am grateful. They have screened all three of my short films. Nine years later I venture back. I am doing a radio interview on KCXI. Festival in the Schools invited me to talk to a public school honors lit and drama class about acting and filmmaking.
Wish us luck. Heading towards the flow. Let the inspiration find me. And when it does let me see it.
